The Challenge
During the construction of this deck, we discovered that the existing porch support columns were sitting directly on top of the old decking instead of being properly supported by a
structural beam or independent footings designed to transfer the load correctly into the ground. To make matters worse, the existing decking had already begun to rot and deteriorate, creating not only a serious structural concern for the porch itself but also a significant safety hazard that could have eventually led to a collapse or severe accident.
The Solution
To ensure the structure was safe and built to last, we installed temporary supports for the porch, carefully demolished the existing deck, and replaced the porch columns. We then poured independent footings for each column to guarantee proper load transfer and long-term structural integrity. Every step of this project was completed with safety, durability, and craftsmanship as the priority.
